Evergreen Park Chamber of Commerce Announces Holiday Luncheon & Citizen of the Year Honoree

EVERGREEN PARK, IL — The Evergreen Park Chamber of Commerce invites local business leaders, partners, and community members to its annual Holiday Luncheon on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Saint Xavier University’s Warde Academic Center (3700 W. 103rd Street, Chicago).

A long-standing Evergreen Park tradition, the Holiday Luncheon brings the business community together to celebrate the season, recognize outstanding service, and look ahead to the Chamber’s upcoming year. Guests will enjoy a festive gathering, musical entertainment from the Evergreen Park Community High School Madrigals, and the official swearing-in of the Chamber’s 2026 officers and directors.

This year, the Chamber is proud to announce Chief Michael Saunders of the Evergreen Park Police Department as its 2025 Citizen of the Year.

Chief Saunders has served the Village of Evergreen Park for nearly five decades, beginning as an Auxiliary Police Officer in 1976 before rising through the ranks as Patrol Officer, Tactical Undercover Officer, Detective, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Detective Division Commander, and ultimately Chief of Police, a role he has held since 2000. His career includes significant leadership beyond the village as well, including service on the Executive Board of the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force; President of the Cook County Fifth District Police Association; Co-Founder and Chairman of the Cook County Fifth District SWAT Team; and graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

In the spirit of the season, the Chamber will also collect non-perishable food items to support the Village Pantry Coalition, Evergreen Park’s local food pantry. Attendees are encouraged to contribute and help support neighbors in need.
